Life Lately

Oh friends... it's definitely time for a Life Lately. Since I was 100 percent MIA last week!

First off .... HAPPY HALLOWEEN! So glad this day is here... my kids have had a countdown. Apparently this is their new favorite holiday! We have a busy day of school parties and trick or treating this evening. We will be slash I will be ready for bed at 8:30 pm!

I'd also like to start this post off by saying that if I had five extra hours to get Two Dots, LipSense and blog work accomplished, I'd really be feeling on top of the world! Sadly, I don't have the power to extend my day any more than I do... which means that sometimes, one of those three things has to take a back burner.

It has been LipSense for a few months, but starting November 1, I'm announcing a new monthly giveaway and going to start sending out samples of samples of other products in our SeneGence family for those intrigued.

Two Dots took a backseat all summer until September and now I'm working my fanny off to make it better and bigger. Making it better isn't as hard as making it bigger. I feel clueless as to how to stretch our fanbase without asking everyone to share our social media pages constantly. Which I don't want to do. So... I'm brainstorming a lot. I don't want to think negatively but I know that if we stay 'stagnant', Two Dots will probably have to close it's imaginary doors. Which is sad to think about and something I don't want to have to think about. SO... I won't! I'll figure it out! :)

Me, ubering to Stylemax, a local Chicago trade market to look for clothes for Two Dots! :)
We are just about to finish out our second month of school and I kind of feel like we have found our groove. I still am yelling at everyone when it's time to leave for school, but I find that to be inevitable. Matt went to a Montessori Parent Education night last week and came home feeling much more knowledgeable about the school we were sending our kids to than when he walked in to the meeting.

And thank goodness!

To say we knew very little about Montessori was an understatement! I think he felt pretty upbeat about how the kids are being taught with only a few questions that he hadn't gotten answered when he came home. It's definitely a different world than what these two small town public school kids are used to. But luckily for Sloane and Reece, they really don't know much of a difference except that there aren't desks to sit at... they just have their own personal rugs.

So hippie, right?! :)

Sloane is doing well. We are most proud that she is finally remembering kids names, which is a real struggle for her! I still sometimes worry when I look out the window and I see her kind of wandering around the playground by herself during recess. I wonder if we've done the right thing by moving them so much. But right or wrong, it's a part of our life and our journey right now. I pray that it makes her a stronger and braver kid in the long run. And I hope we eventually can get to our forever home so she can make some forever friends.

And Reece.

Oh Reece.

Despite the constant worry I have for him in certain areas, being social and friendly is not one of them. This kid will walk up to complete strangers, say hello, ask them how they are, tell them his name and then proceed to tell him the names of everyone around him... "my mom, my dad, my girlfriend Sloane..."

Just last week his teacher had responded to an email I had sent her and finished it off by telling me how proud of him she was. He has some small meltdowns every once in awhile, but she has found a way to make them minor. And his hugs and smile make her day better.

So... there is a chance my son might be a school janitor (I mean... I could be a great school janitor) or he might be rocket scientist. But either way, he will be the friendliest one you will ever meet! :)

I meet with the special education coordinator and his teacher this week to go over his IEP plan and see what needs to be adjusted with that. This kid is saying bigger words than his sister so I'm not sure if speech will be what needs to be tackled anymore. He is getting one-on-one reading help daily, which is nice. Other than that, we are constantly working on sight words and he is obsessed with making signs and hanging them up all over the basement.

Not sure what they say, but... they are up!

He was very upset he didn't have homework like Sloane so Matt  gave him some homework... he took it very seriously! :)
And Ms. Tess. Well. She is a mess. We are officially closer to being two than one and I can feel it! The girl can throw up a 'tude in the snap of a finger! It's quite amazing! At least three times a day, I have to apologize to someone for her nasty look she is giving someone. And tell them that she does it to everyone.

It's exhausting! ;)

We've spent some time at the pediatrician lately as well as a kidney ultrasound last week. Apparently she has two tubes running from one of her kidneys to her bladder rather than just one which is causing her to have some small issues. We meet with a urologist in a few weeks to see what we need to do. I'm just praying its not surgery! But we will cross that river when we come to it.

We've had lots of visitors lately -- Matt's dad and girlfriend came up a few weekends ago and then Michael and his girlfriend Jami came this last weekend. Jami found the magic touch with Tess because Tess gladly would sit in her lap and hang out. Which doesn't easily happen for many! :)

Michael, if you are reading this (which I'm sure you will get to at some point)... we love her and I need her as my sister-in-law. No pressure. ;)

We have one free weekend before I head to Kansas City with all of Two Dots in tow to attend the Gift Gallery for the second year in a row. We had a BLAST there last year and are so excited to attend again! The vendors are LEGIT people - if you are in the KC area and need to get some Christmas shopping done, make a stop at the Cure of Ars Catholic School off of 95th and Mission in Leawood, Kan. You will not be sorry!

Lauren, Sam, Perry and Cohen come up right when I get back from KC and then my best friend arrives after that until the Wednesday of Thanksgiving, followed my parents for Thanksgiving!

Busy. Busy. Busy.

And I prefer it that way!

Mean-Girled

For those that know my family, you know that we travel. A lot. As in almost every weekend. And that hasn't stopped us in November, either! We spent last weekend in Kansas City so Lauren and I could sell our Two Dots clothing at a cheer competition.

I know, I know. Sounds a little strange, but in my mind, it was genius! A bunch of mom's, high school cheerleaders, boredom between their performances equals a good day for Two Dots! We ALWAYS have fun at shows - any kind of show - because we get to meet people and chat and sell stuff! And though we did the same thing at this event, it was a little different from the moment we walked in.

We were mean-girled.

And by mean-girled, I mean we were stared at from the second we walked in the door. This hasn't happened to me since I was in junior high. Literally.

We started unloading and Lauren kept looking around and whispering, "They won't stop staring at us and whispering!" I just kept moving because it takes us a long time to set up and we had 30 minutes to get this knocked out!

So we kept setting up and at some point, I kind of stopped to breathe, and looked around and sure enough. The vendors all around us were just staring.

It's one of those times when you want to look at them and say something extremely sarcastic. "Take a picture, it'll last longer!"

What's odd is the reaction we got wasn't out of character for us. We usually get looks because we aren't selling homemade items or Norwex or Plexus... but we've never been mean-girled!

And if you have ever seen our set up and how we sell our clothes at shows, we have two racks that we run parallel to each other so people can see everything. Once we had everything set up this weekend, one of the Plexus gals walked over to us and with a faux smirk on her face, said "Hi, I'm Brittany." I introduced myself and apologized for not stopping by her booth yet. We usually make our rounds to look at booths once we finish setting up, but it was taking us awhile to get everything together. It was right after that when she looked at me and said, "Yeah, can you move your rack? It's in the way of my booth."

I'm sure I got bright red because I was in shock, embarrassed and down-right mad.

So, in a very un-Allyson-like move, I said, with a smile on my face, "Oh... you weren't coming to introduce yourself, were you?"

No, no she said. She was, she was just nervous people couldn't see her booth from where our clothing racks were. Mind you, we are NOT mean girls and wouldn't purposefully try and hide someone's booth. We were working with what we had!

The day went on and Lauren couldn't stop about these women and how they were acting towards us. The thought to pack up 10 minutes after we arrived did not escape our minds.

But we trudged on. Made a few sales, the most fun being a cheerleader from Blue Valley who made her mom come with her and was excited about all of our clothes as I've ever seen someone be! Her mom and her purchased about four or five items and her mom even asked if they got a discount for buying that many items. It's one of those moments when you're like, "Uhhh... seriously?" Somehow I talked her out of the discount as she was asking her daughter if she wanted another pair of leggings (PS. Fleece-lined leggings in black and navy will be in stock soon and if you don't own a pair, you need to!). It was the most entertaining thing to happen to us that day!

By 1:30 pm, others were packing up, so we decided to do the same and get home to watch the K-State game (and if you know the outcome of that day, you can imagine that this was not the happiest of our days)!

We packed up, headed home and grabbed a beer. Because we needed one.

And we learned a valuable life lesson that day. That it doesn't matter if you are 14, 34 or 54. People will try and make you feel like you are the most awkward turtle in the bunch. It's how you react to them that is key.

We smiled. Sold more than they did. And ate nachos.

Take that, Plexus!

My Reece: Part 2

A few weeks ago, I posted about my Reece and how we came to learn about Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)

When I had left off, I was explaining how I had read that occupational therapy (OT) was the best help you could give someone with SPD. I had Reece evaluated at the end of January 2016 and we started OT in February.

But to back up a little...

I had mentioned that Reece had a speech delay and how I basically just blown it off because Sloane had been exactly the same. When we were living in Minneapolis, I had someone from the school district come to our home and evaluate her when she was three to see if they thought we needed to get help for her. After evaluating her, they told me it was completely normal for someone her age to be speaking how she was speaking (there words, but A LOT more jibber jabber than anything else)! They said that one day, it would just click for her.

And one day, it did!

And she hasn't stopped talking since!

So like I said, when I noticed Reece wasn't speaking clearly, just like his sister, I didn't worry. I was sure that he would be like Sloane and one day, it would just click.

But by his three year checkup, our pediatrician recommended speech therapy - immediately. Like without even asking questions. So I was freaked out. But found a place not far from our home that provided therapy services.

I took Reece in to have him evaluated and he qualified for speech. But of course our insurance did not cover speech therapy and it was going to be $140 a session! And they wanted him to come once a week!

That's a lot of money, people

That's a lot of money to spend that you weren't planning on spending, but needed to spend to help your child.

That was a tough one! I knew he needed the speech but Matt and I both were very concerned about the cost of it all! Luckily there is a secondary insurance you can apply for in Arkansas called TEFRA that we were told we could apply for that would significantly help lower our payment and that they would make a note we were waiting to see if we qualified so we wouldn't pay until we found out (kind of scary to think about because if you didn't qualify - $140 a week adds up over the 2-3 month time span it can take to find out if you qualified for TEFRA)!

I also learned that it was hard to qualify for TEFRA unless you had at least two 'disabilities'.

I HATED this.

For a few reasons, but mainly because my son did not have a disability in my eyes. He was perfectly fine. But to have the chance to get this insurance, I had to make him sound like he had a disability.

Reece had started going to speech and loved it, but after the third or fourth appointment, his therapist recommended he get evaluated for OT. Which means all of that paperwork I had filled out for TEFRA - all 24-30 pages - needed to be redone. Because now he might have two disabilities.

My brain: THIS SUCKS! He doesn't have any disabilities!  ----- YAY! We might get TEFRA because we will qualify because he has two disabilities.

Parenting, people. Not for the faint of heart.

Started off with the headphones because it was quite loud! But took them off just after the game started!

Sadly, we ended up switching to a new therapy place because we NEVER heard back from the previous place we had been going to. It was a weird situation and I won't get into it, but when you don't hear back from a place that is suppose to call and schedule his weekly appointments, you tend to not trust them as much with your child.

In the end, it was a blessing in disguise because I had found out that the school district had an education coop that provided free services to those children in need and in the school district.

That was us!

So I contacted them and we had Reece evaluated for speech in August 2015. It was atleast a two-hour evaluation which I didn't know (and by then I was five months pregnant and did not come prepared with a drink or snack!), but Reece surprisingly did well. It's hard to be present in the room when they are evaluating him because I could feel myself staring at him with these eyes of "Come on, Reece! You know that answer!"

They talked to me afterwards for a few minutes and brought up how they had a couple of red flags in regards to autism.

Autism.

A word that I will hold with much higher regard than I ever had before.

And a word that is TERRIFYING to hear!

They said because he repeated things they would say (for example: Lady - "Reece, where is the boat?" Reece - "the boat?"). He had done that for awhile and again, I thought nothing of it (and he still does it). But they said that repeating words can be a sign of autism.

What? How, again, did I miss this?!

They said there wasn't anything else that really bothered them since he was social and looked them in the eyes, so they wouldn't focus on that part. I said "OK" and we moved on.

Two days later, after waking up many times at night thinking about everything Reece had done or was doing, I e-mailed the gals he gave Reece his evaluation.

"I cannot live like this. If he has autism, I need to know."

They sent me an autism screener to fill out that would give them a good indication of whether or not we needed to proceed with any kind of autism evaluation.

I got the screener, I e-mailed it to my mom as well, with firm instructions that we needed to be as UNBIASED as possible for this because it was very important (it is very hard for my mom to be any kind of unbiased when it comes to her grandchildren)!

I took the screener, I had Matt do the screener and mom told me what her answers unveiled.

According to the screener, the only section that made him more 'questionable' as to being autistic, was the speech delay. I was told again that we weren't going to focus on this because clearly, he was not autistic.

I was pleased with that, but still... it's something that never leaves your mind! They did recommend an evaluation by someone with a doctoral background just to relieve any concerns I had.

We got Reece started with speech therapy through the co-op in October and for a child that has a hard time with transitions, he was put through the ringer his first year with speech. We went through at least three different speech therapists over an eight-month period.

**Sidenote: this year the co-op has been great and VERY organized which is wonderful - I get notes back from his sweet therapist, Evie, who he meets with at his school, once a week for 45 minutes.

Loud noises didn't seem to bother him at this wedding reception!

So... fast forward back to January 2016 and his occupational therapy evaluation.

A sweet therapist named Lori took Reece back for a one-hour evaluation while I filled out some screeners on Reece. When he finished up, Lori said we would hear back from her in a week with results and try and get Reece on her schedule (but he threw a fit right before we left, which I was upset about but happy for her to see what my real worries were with him).

A week later, we heard back from Lori and she said I'd be happy to hear that from my paperwork, they weren't as worried about SPD. But it showed that Reece was lacking in fine motor skills.

AKA my three-year-old wasn't great at using scissors or drawing circles.

Ummm.... yeah. I would agree and I would say I'm OK with that. That will come with time and age and I could see Reece grabbing scissors at home and taking them to his hair, to curtains (I apparently have stories to share on both of those things as a child), to whatever he could cut.

So the fact that he couldn't use scissors perfectly was not a worry.

I found out that to send Reece to OT once a week like he needed, it would be $180. A week.

Again, that is a punch to the gut (and I was now 8 months pregnant). Our insurance would cover 20 percent until we hit our deductible and then they would cover 80 percent after that.

Luckily our sweet Tess came in February so we hit that deductible quickly and have been paying $20/session since.

2017 will be a new story. And the TEFRA paperwork is being filled out. Again. With two disabilities.

AND lastly... to go back to austism.

Reece after one his last successful haircuts - such a big deal!

I was certain I wanted to get Reece evaluated by a specialist for someone to give us some sort of diagnosis. Was it austim? I don't know, but if it was, life wouldn't stop. Because Reece is who he is and we would continue to treat him as we always have!

Would it be something we had never thought of? Who knows! Would it be nothing? I doubted it and hoped not only for the reason that I needed to know how to help my baby when we had issues arise. I wanted to be able to talk to his teachers and explain Reece as easily as possible without spending 30 minutes on it and making him sound like a sweet cuckoo bird (or myself as a cuckoo mommy bird)!

One of our occupational therapists (we are now on our third) gave me the name of a child pyschologist in Fayetteville and said that if I wanted answers and someone to mentor me through some things, this guy was who I should go to!

I called, of course asked the cost (nothing is cheap, my friends, nothing is cheap) and when we could get him in.

The cost wasn't awful unless he had to see the psychiatrist routinely (lord, I hoped not!). I did ask how we would know if we would have to come back once or many times. The front desk rep said that "if he needed medication...." That was all I heard.

Medication? Really? That's where you start? I know she did eventually say he might not need anything and we might not have to come back at all.

So... Matt, Reece, Tess and I loaded up and drove the 25 minute drive to meet with this doctor. We walked into the doctors office and it was SUPER small, but filled with legos and blocks and cars - Reece just narrowed in on what he wanted to play with and went for it.

After chatting for about 30 minutes and the doctor asking us questions and him talking to Reece and playing with him, he told us that right away, when Reece walked in so focused on one thing and not making eye contact, he immediately thought austim.

But then when Reece started asking questions and showing the doctor how things worked and talking to him, he said austim was thrown out the door. He said because he was looking him in the eye and being social, he wasn't concerned about autism.

It was interesting to watch him interact with Reece and then at the end tell us how very smart he is and a very analytical thinker. It was a proud mom moment for sure. And when you go through all that we have gone through to get to this, it's nice to have those moments and for others to tell you good things about your child!

We left with a language disorder diagnosis with some slight OCD -- the doctor asked if anyone in our family had OCD and my response was "Well, I have never been formally diagnosed, but I'm certain I have it!" I'm sure in his mind he was like, "I hate mom humor."

The language disorder does explain how frustrated and upset he gets when we can't understand what he is trying to tell us. I don't know if it explains everything, but it's something!

We left feeling good about the doctor and his diagnosis and had closed the book. Sort of. I continued to go back-and-forth in my head on if we should get a second opinion. Only because I was scared we had loved that he said Reece wasn't autistic. Was that the answer we wanted?

Or was I begging for someone to tell me he was autistic just so I could move on? It's strange, I don't know if I can fully explain it.

When I told Matt how I felt like we should get a second opinion. And this is what he said.

"What is it going to change?"

And it's true. What WAS it going to change? Matt was more worried that we would continue to seek more opinions and more opinions and eventually, someone would say he needs to me medicated, which we don't think is how Reece needs to be treated.

I was upset, but not because of his answer, but because of the entire situation. I just want Reece to be like every other four year old. I want him to be quote unquote normal. And there is no such thing! There is no such thing as a normal four year old!

If I told my best friend that I wanted Reece to be like her four year old, she would probably laugh at me and say she wished her son was more like Reece.

There is no winning!

The only winning part is Reece. He is who he is. Who knows where we will be in one year with him - he might be hitting t-ball home runs! Or he might be taking a music class. Who knows! What I do know is that I can't change him. We can continue to help him along his path and find opportunities for him to thrive in. It's never going to be easy.

But as my grandpa Bob always used to say, no one ever said life was going to be easy.

Friday Favorites

First off, I'd like to wish a very special someone a Happy Birthday today...

It's my birthday and nothing can possibly go wrong on this day (knock on wood repeatedly 10,000 times)!

This day will be spent dropping kids off at school, working out, hanging out with my Tess-a-roo, spoiling myself with a LARGE coke at McDonald's today, picking kids up from school, and a high school football game where Sloane is performing a dance at halftime.

Take that, 34! :)
CONGRATULATIONS to my first Etsy Gift Card Giveaway winner (insert drumroll........ ) .............

BECCA SWEANEY!

Thank you all for entering the giveaway and I'll make sure to keep up with these - everyone deserves a chance to try and win something.

Since I never do.

Ever.

I never win these things!

Anyway -- Becca, email me at allyson.hills@gmail.com and I'll get you your gift card details!

I have been hunting for the perfect non-running/workout sneaker for awhile now. I have had my eyes set on these bad boys for awhile ....

New Balance for JCrew 620 Sneakers

Then I tried them on and was so-so on them. I love the look of them - that's what I'm wanting - but they weren't super comfy. And for $80, I expected a little comfort.
Saucony Women's Bullet
I tried on these Saucony's at DSW and didn't hate them. But don't necessarily like the bottom of the shoe as much as the New Balance. But they were around $40-45 at DSW.
Saucony Shadow Original Running Shoe

I saw these at Nordstrom Rack and again, I don't hat ethem! I like the bottom of this a little more than the Saucony, but not as much as the New Balance. I know most people can't see a difference between this pair and the NB pair.

But I also have a chemical imbalance that allows me to see the difference and be THAT picky.
Athleta Exclusive DXN Trainer by Saucony

Lastly, I got my Athleta catalog in the mail yesterday and was flipping through and saw a gal in what appeared to me to my magical sneakers, a light tanish beige color with cream soles. I hopped on the site and can't find them except in black.

I want so badly to be one of those people that can pull of black sneakers.

But I tried it in seventh grade when it was a trend back then and believe me, it didn't look good on me. Yes, they might have been high tops for basketball. Or skater girl Sketchers. But either way, they didn't look good.

I can't imagine much has changed in 20 years!

So this is where I'm at. Still hunting. Still going back to the New Balances. Maybe I need to try them on with some good socks and things will change?

Anyone have some cute sneaker options I don't know about?!

Totally switching gears on you because we are going to talk about our new highchair!

When we had Sloane, we had registered and received the Chicco Polly Highchair, something similar to the below picture:
Chicco Polly Highchair

I think everyone was getting this highchair and for good reason. It folds up, it's semi-cute (why are highchairs so atrocious looking? Nothing in my house blends in with a pale yellow covered in animals!) and just seemed like a good/only option!

After Reece got his turn in it and it made a move to Arkansas, I stared at it and told Matt that if we had another baby, I could not, with good conscience, put it in it without knowing the child would end up with a deadly disease. This highchair was DISGUSTING! There was food in places I can't figure out how it even got there!

So... we tossed it (thanks for the memories, Chicco Polly) and waited a year and half to have another baby and some months until we needed a highchair again.

I didn't want to spend tons of money, wanted it to be easy to clean, wanted wheels and something that had seat adjustment (up and down and to lean back).

I randomly came across the OXO Seedling Highchair at HomeGoods one day and was so mad I didn't just snatch it up then because it was $70! But we found it on Amazon for $98 and with Prime, had it in a few days with free shipping!
Oxo Seedling Highchair
People - I'm SO happy with this option! If you are hunting for a highchair definitely check this one out. The seat moves all the way to the ground, it rolls around (and all over our house as Sloane drags Tess in it), the tray pulls out easily and also comes off for easy washing, the seat cushion just got its first wash and it was super easy to take off (which was part of the problem with the Chicco version).

The only con is that it doesn't fold up to put away, but so far, I'm OK with it. For one reason: this thing isn't hideous! The seat cushion comes in a variety of colors and I chose... mocha. Mocha goes with my stuff.

Thank you Mocha! Thank you OXO! So happy with this highchair purchase!

Tess loves it, too!
I am not a makeup connoisseur, but I wish I was. It would make things so much easier and my face look so much better! It's just not my thing... I love it, but am not good at it!

But thankfully for other bloggers and their blogs about their favorite things, they were able to point me the direction of what is now one of my favorite makeup tools.

The beautyblender.
the original beautyblender

I always would blend my foundation in with my fingers. And yes, I had been told not to do that. But I didn't listen, it was what I was used to and it was easy.

Then Sheaffer Told Me To blogged about discovering this and how it was a game-changer. So I went to Sephora in search of new foundation... and this game-changing sponge.

And she was right! Game-changer! You get it wet, then squeeze out the water, give it a good squeeze into a hand towel, then apply your foundation to it then to your face. The water is suppose to help keep the foundation on your face longer.

And I love it!

There are lots of other replicas out there - I see them at Marshall's and TJ Maxx all the time. And I do swipe them up from time to time because they are $4 compared to $20. But you can tell a difference.

So if you're wanting to splurge on something fun, test this puppy out (I got mine at Sephora)!

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I'm always on the hunt for a good bootie. The only pair I own are from Old Navy. And though they've done the trick for when I've needed them, you can start to tell they are Old Navy quality.

I LOVE Sole Society. I love everything about it. The shoes, the bags, how when you click on a shoe, they show it to you on a model dressed in normal clothes.

And I'm pretty much love ALL of their bootie options. Including this one.

Natasha Slip-On Bootie

They look really cute and comfy, so they are an option.

But then another blogger, Megan from Honey We're Home, showed these Caslon Addison Wedge Booties on her Instagram the other day and the key word was COMFORTABLE. I want a cute bootie that is comfy, which is hard to come by!

Addison Wedge Bootie

That's definitely one I'd have to try on -- I don't absolutely love the look at first glance (because I'm insane), but I feel like it might look different on (like it does on Megan) and like she said, they're comfortable, which is key.

So, there you have it friends! My Friday Favorites -- or my Friday "I have alot of Favorites but can't make a decision, so help me!" Favorites.

Everyone have a great Friday (because it's my birthday) and have an even better weekend! Hope the weather stays cool on you!

XXOO,
Allyson

Etsy Finds of the Week

Baby Memory Book
$34.99

Ohmahgoodness.

I LOVE this baby book! I did a good search for a simple, not-too-complicated baby book to buy when I had Tess. Baby books should not be a hard thing for one to fill out, but for me - once they hit six months, I couldn't remember to write anything down.

Ever.

Even now, I put Tess's ON THE COUNTER in the kitchen, starting at me every day just so I will write in it. I scibbled something in it yesterday and I think it was about her turning seven months. Or atleast hope it was.

This book is adorable though and doesn't involve too much effort on one's part! Plus I have a new baby niece/nephew that will be coming into my life in the next four months so maybe Baby Hills will be needing this!

This seller has lots of super cute baby must-haves including monthly stickers - lots of positive reviews!

The Original Beer Flight
$30

I love my friend Megan for many reasons. One of them being that she is just cool. She has cool stuff that I always want.

In fact when the Nordstrom Anniversary sale rolls around, I make it a point to check in and see what she got. Because it's always cool.

When I saw her in August, I started making a list of cool things she has to add to Christmas lists for people. One thing she mentioned she was going to do for her cute beau-hunk boyfriend was get him a Beer of the Month Club membership.

Great idea! It went on my Christmas list for Matt!

So when I came across these beer flights, I immediately thought of her and what a fun extra option this would be to give to Anil.

And Matt. Along with their beer club memberships. :)

These are made from repurposed wood and DOES include the glasses! Lots of nice, manly items at this shop and seller only has great reviews!

Gold Dipped Leather Keychain
$17+

My best friend and I have a fun time gift-giving to each other because our gifts are always a random assortment of "stuff" -- candles, books, food, t-shirts, nail polish... I LOVE IT! As does she, and it's just fun to shop for!

So when I came across these bad boys, I immediately thought of her and added it to my list of possible birthday/Christmas options for her!

They come in many different colors and you can add personalization for $1 extra or leave it blank.  They can be dipped in the gold or not - they can be darker leather - the options seem to be endless! They also are made of real leather so you know they won't be falling apart any time soon!

TONS of reviews on this seller and all are good!!! Can be shipped in 3-7 days which is good since I procrastinate on buying ALL gifts. :)

Happy Thursday everyone and happy shopping!

Birthday Giveaway

Well my friends, you are lucky I have gone this long without bringing up the fact that my favorite day of the year is almost upon us.

My birthday.

September 30 is my favorite holiday because it is mine. All mine. Yes, other people celebrate their birthdays on the same day, but in my head, it is my day.

But a quick shoutout to all those last day of September babies! You know who you are! :)

In honor of my birthday, I'm doing an Etsy Gift Card giveaway!

In honor of my birthday, that gift card will be for $34 to any Etsy seller that takes gift cards!

And it's $34 because I'm turning 34. And I'm OK with it. It's another year that I'm still alive and kicking and another year that I get to celebrate the greatest day of the year.

To enter the giveaway, just follow the Rafflecopter instructions at the end of this post and you are entered! Make sure to share the post on social media to get extra points!

The giveaway begins today and I'll announce the winner on Friday with my Friday Favorites!

Best of luck and may the odds be ever in your favor!

XXOO,

Allyson
